A legacy of innovation: from the first transistor-based UPS to the Hyperion series

The soul of Powertronix is rooted in the pioneering vision of its founder, Luigi Modenesi. In the 1970s, with the design of one of the first transistor-based UPS systems, he marked a historic turning point, making the technologies in use at the time obsolete. From that spark was born our vocation: not just to follow technological evolution, but to lead it.

Today, that same spirit lives on in our tri-level Hyperion UPS systems, capable of achieving efficiencies above 97%, and in the new Enerclever systems: intelligent solutions for energy storage and consumption reduction, able to cut generator usage by up to 60%. Because for us, innovation also means energy efficiency and tangible sustainability.

Our history

1970

Luigi Modenesi designs one of the first transistor-based UPS systems in Italy, revolutionizing a sector still dominated by valve technology.

1986

As a distributor of Iwatec SA Switzerland, Iwatec Italia is founded, later becoming Powertronix Srl.

1989

Powertronix expands into Egypt, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, and Uruguay.

1993

Powertronix becomes a joint-stock company (SpA). Design of the “PTX3” UPS begins.

1994

The new Powertronix headquarters opens in Grezzago (Milan).

1996

The Milan Chamber of Commerce awards Powertronix the “Technological Innovation” prize.

1997

Joint venture with Power Dear of Caracas (Venezuela) for the South American market.

2000

Powertronix acquires Iwatec SA Switzerland.

2001

Production of the new Discovery series begins. Powertronix expands, and the covered surface of the plant reaches 2,500 m².

2010

Powertronix enters the photovoltaic market by commercializing single-phase solar inverters.

2015

Powertronix is selected to ensure power continuity and quality at the F-35 manufacturing plant in Cameri.

2020

Powertronix launches the ISO 14001 certification process to certify the quality of its environmental management system, contributing to the environmental pillar of sustainability.

2022

Powertronix obtains ISO 14001 certification.

2023

Powertronix becomes part of the BGG Group.

2024

Powertronix achieves Gender Equality certification.

2025

Powertronix obtains ISO 45001 certification.
